Video Guide: How to Measure for Saddle Fit

If you are not sure what size gullet your horse needs, the video below will give you a good idea of where and how to measure your horse for saddle fit.

If you need more help, we are always happy to assist. We can also seek advice from experienced saddlers if needed, so please feel free to contact us and we will do our best to guide you in the right direction.

We also recommend sending photos of your horse, as this can help us better understand your horse’s shape and provide more accurate advice when choosing a saddle.

Important Note – Different Saddle Styles Fit Differently

Different styles of saddles are designed to fit differently.

For example, an English saddle will not fit the same as a Western saddle or a Fender saddle, so each type needs to be considered separately when measuring and choosing the right fit.

Other factors that can affect saddle fit include:

  • Bar angles

  • Skirt length

  • Saddle design and shape

Different brands may also fit differently. For example, a 7 inch full bar gullet in one brand may not fit the same as a 7 inch gullet in another brand, even if the saddle type is similar.

While we cannot guarantee saddle fit, we will always do our best to help you choose the most suitable saddle and provide advice wherever possible.
